I love these guys

These are Things.  They have cool things.  I have one of their maps in my daughter's room.
This one is on sale for $25.  I want it.  You should too.

Less than $100

IKEA PS SVINGA
$70 - ikea.com

It's clean and bohemian.  It will go in the weird window bump out
where a makeshift window seat now sits.

Not in the other weird window bump out where I want a larger built in window seat.

It's less than $100 and won't make me fat like chocolates.
(but get me chocolates anyway)

Please!

And have it hung up when I get home from work on the 14th.

Cool thanks.

Mustard on Everything

I have this sofa in turquoise.
If I get mustard wallpaper will it have the same effect?
No?  I didn't think so.

Sexy curves.

A chunky yellow blanket like this would get me naked fast.
Just sayin.
ahem Valentine's Day.

Mustard asiany goodness.

Additionally I have a recipe for a calzone type thing
that has only mustard, sausage and peppers inside
and maybe cheese and it is out of this world delicious.
Perfect for a super bowl party.

I'll try to find it in my superduperbookoffabulousrecipes
and post it for you later.
The Bug needs to get to preschool.

ps I would lick mustard off your head.

My kinda place

The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.
 Uber coolness.

Rooms start at $200.

I've never been to Palm Springs or California for that matter,
but that sounds pretty reasonable.

There is a spa, a DJ by the pool and a retro vibe everywhere.

Fish tacos and a margarita pool side please.

A cruise through the desert and
architecture ogling in town.

Chillin in the room with a sunburn and a slight buzz
listening to the vinyl records and player they provide.

Then I'll be arrested for trying to steal the furniture and rugs.
Anyone with me?

Tough Crowd

So I pick her up at preschool in my baggy sweatpants and I get,

"Mom you don't have to do the boyfriend look every day"

Some points to consider:

She is 4 years old.
It is -14 degrees outside.
I have the morning off.

In related news it is -14 degrees today,
but according to the radio/tv/internet
the apocalypse is coming.

So I thought I should cook.  A lot.

Bran muffins, egg bake, brownies, chicken noodle soup, and lasagna.
done.

And a dance party in the kitchen besides.

Making me laugh tonight

Your Jacket Says a Lot About You

Also making me laugh: this and this.

Industrial vs Institutional

It's a fine line.

Adding something organic is the key.

Like a whole wall of tropical plants. Yes please.

or even just a stump.

or  a wooden step/bathmat

even a scraggly little plant warms up this concrete
(the floor to ceiling window doesn't hurt either)

Without a natural element
the industrial look feels like a public space
(like the school nurses office)

I am fascinated with industrial lofts lately,
but probably more likely to live in an institution.

How smart are you?

How dumb am I?

I like that song and need advice.

Construction may soon begin on our long awaited window seat.

I found this photo at AT, and it gave me an idea that I thought might save some dough.

The expensive part of building the seat is not the lumber (we have a garage full of that)
 but the upholstery.
The fabric and foam and paying someone to actually make the bottom cushion.

But what if the top was done in really nice natural wood?
With a pretty, fluffy flokati on top?

Or would that be lame? And hard and uncomfortable and probably just as expensive?

I don't know who she is but she looks good.

I don't watch much tv.  Or actually see very many movies.  And I fell asleep during the award show.
But I still enjoy the fashion and the snark.

In other news: bow ties are out, Christian Bale is Brittish (who knew?)
Ricky Gervais is skinny and big dark rimmed glasses are
no longer ironic if everyone is wearing them.

please give her a sandwich asap.

Best She's Ever Looked

Yawn

who cares?

Best

and she has good posture

Trying too hard

she is kidding with that pose right?

better.

je ne parle pas français

marie claire maison

but I believe this is somewhere in South Africa,

and to use one of my favorite quotes from Tina Fey (again)

I want to go to there.

do I see a little lap pool down there?

yes.  yes I do.

Good view from the bathroom.

p.s. I hate calla lilies.

can't explain it, but I do.

I imagine this is taken from that same terrace

looking into the bedroom through gigantic sliding doors.

Yes, please.

Done

This used to be a tree in my yard.

I wanted to make him into a floor,

but it wasn't to be.

I think this will do.

Better than when he was pooping walnuts on me.
