I don't decorate for Easter...

Unless I am hosting.  Which I am not.  But if I was, I like these.  Do you decorate for Easter?

Simple Pleasures

A sunny spot and a nap.

Minneapolis Design Done Right

Gunkelman Flesher.  Right.

I get very protective when people make fun of Minneapolis.  Anna Wintour called us "Little Houses".  Mean.  Most of my friends have rockin bodies.  Today it is going to be 70 degrees and sunny.  And we have Gunkelman Flesher. Unfortunately many of our other local designers feature a portfolio with lots of the "Tuscan" look.  Ugh.  When will people stop asking for that?

I love Sunday

Made brownies with Anna, walked along the creek with Carrie, my bff, had coffee at Java Jack's in the city, brunch at her house,
Britta's Cafe: Mimosa by evilmidori. then antiquing at Hunt and Gather, my favorite shop in the city.  This was all before noon!  I love Sunday.  Sorry Jesus.

Who Else?

When I lack inspiration, who else to turn to but Martha?  This is the kitchen in her summer home, in Maine.  She took all the white dishes out of the cupbaords and put them on a shelf.  Then she got a bunch of stools of various sizes and painted them all glossy white.  The cool white with the warm wood is one of my favorite combinations.

Peace and Harmony?

Dog + Cat living together harmoniously now.  Man + Woman.  Not so much.  I know what you are thinking....stop wearing that robe and things will probably get better.  Touche.

Show me your nipple

Here. It's Ok, don't be scared. You can click it.   I love all things Jonathon Adler.  I love his design your own pillows and rugs function on the website.  I love his pottery.  I love his wallpaper.  But now I am loving these provocative pillows, but I can't for the life of me get his images from his website to my blog.

Seriously people, call me

This is the Carlyle.  A newish luxury high rise in downtown Minneapolis.  Downtown is a happening place to live right now.  (Not shop, but that is for another post).  A new Twins stadium, vibrant night life, a new Guthrie theater, many farmers markets, lots of new lofts along the river, yuppies and empty nesters alike are flocking.

The view from the 38th floor is gorgeous no?  This condo will run you $2.5 million.  So do you think they could hire a decent photog, get themselves a nice table, maybe spring for some flowers?

Now I am no realtor, but folks we are selling the view here, don't block it with crap from Corts.  I know someone who could get you better stuff off Craigslist for $25 (wink).

Really?  I mean are you serious? I could do better with the camera on my crappy flip phone.  And the rental furniture is super Holiday Inn lobby.  We really could do better by going to a garage sale, IKEA (which I don't mean to knock I really like it) or craigslist.  Call me.  I can make it look hot.  For cheap.  Instead of cheap for $2.5 mil.

I can help you

If the outside of your home looks like this:
And your view of beautiful Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis looks like this:

And you are selling it for $2,795,000, don't let the inside look like this:
or this:
I could help you out.  Let's go shopping. We will style this place up a little.  The tray on the bed is classic stager fare and it is fugly.  This why people use "staged" as a derogatory term. You embarrass me.

The next project for the mister

Perhaps you saw this photo on the Visual Vamp when I won the Amanda Talley giveaway.  This is my living room.  The painting will replace those candles, I cannot wait.  But let's pan over a little to the right shall we?

A little further...

There.  This is what we call the nook.  It is a hideous little indentation in my living room.  If you sit on one of those cheap Target chairs you cannot see the person sitting on the end of the couch by my new Amanda Talley painting.  (soon to come, of course I will post a pic when it gets here)

Additionally, the ceiling in the nook is tile.  The kind you find in an old classroom.  Bad, bad, very bad.  Furthermore the seals on the glass have been compromised, and so the window is  foggy.  Fugly.  All things I thought we would replace pronto when we moved in.  Guess what, 2.5 years later....right, not changed.  So here is what I am thinking.  I have eased the mister into wallpaper.  He did pretty well.  I want to paper the nook.  The ugly tiles and all. It won't take much paper so I could get some good stuff.   And then, wait for it....I am thinking window seat.

I can't fit a couch there anyway, and those chairs are sorry and should be put out of their misery. (with some sunbrella fabric for my porch).  I love how this seat extends beyond the window and has a built in place for a lamp.  I also like how the window frame is painted black here.  Can you paint just one window frame black when the rest of the woodwork is white?  Seriously, I am asking, can you?

Let's review:  Amanda Talley painting, on it's way.
                   Target chairs = bad.
                   Window seats make me happy.
Wallpaper for a nook , good idea or bad?
Black trim on window, pros and cons.

Discuss.

Gee Whiz

I had a good weekend.  It is amazing how good a little sunshine and warm weather feel after 5 months of winter.  It was finally warm enough to go into my porch this weekend, and I had forgotten that I did this little G collage last fall.

It is also amazing how little it takes to impress a 4 year old.  A few balloons, a few streamers and a cheap pinata, and she is over the moon.

It is additionally amazing how small my cat is after she got all her hair cut into the "lion style".  I swear she was 10 times that size pre haircut.

I like you

Hollywood Turns 4

Her aunt nicknamed her Hollywood early because she has a flair for the dramatic.  She sure started out with some drama, but this is her today.  She makes me laugh every day.  She once ate her brother's poop.  She talks back to her daddy and he lets her.  She charms every one she meets.  She can memorize a  book after you read it to her once.  She turns 4 on Sunday, and I will not be blogging in order to devote the weekend to her.  Happy Birthday Baby.

Modern Dose does knock offs, and I think they look pretty good, no?  The Bright Side Project is a blog that does a giveaway a day, all you have to do is answer one question and the sponsor picks a winner.  I like them.  That is nice.  Nice is good.  Mean people are bad.  Don't be mean.
