We just get the normal squirrels, field mice, and birds in our backyard. Although, I have seen a coyote or too in the field at the end of the block. (Luckily our backyard is fenced in)
so cute. are you going to let her continue to nest there? we get the pileated woodpeckers all the time in my woodsy backyard..they have a very distinct call that i love. nerd.
She doesn't nest there. She lives in the pond. My neighbor told me the eggs will hatch in a few weeks and the baby snappers will make a march to the pond as well, so it seems to be harmless.
i've seen baby turtles march to a pond near me...unfortunately they were marching across a bike path. let's just say they were given a concerned citizen escort.
Wow - that turtle looks gigantic! I think I would've freaked out if I stumbled upon that turtle in my yard! My mom has a wild turkey that hangs out in her garden - nobody knows how or why it appears. This beats the wild turkey for sure!
