He will not walk

The surgery to fuse his spine went well

but allowed the doctors to see

that the injury to the spinal cord was horrifc

Jack will not walk and does not have use of his hands.

The outpouring of support on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Caringbridge

has been almost as much of a story as the story itself.

Kids all over the country wore white today in support of Jack.

I'm not sure how a 16 year old faces this reality.

I am having trouble with it.

I pray for that peace which passes all understanding.
I pray for that peace which the world can neither give nor take away.

  1. Jack will be in my prayers tonight. This is an athlete's parent's worst nightmare. Each time I send my undersized son out onto the lacrosse field with his titanium stick, I look across to the other team and think, "please don't hurt my baby."
