Martha, I bow down to you.

Need ideas for carving your pumpkins on Saturday?  Try //
There are hundreds of ideas.  Most of which are way too hard for my limited attention span.  I show you a few of the uniquely beautiful here.  But keep in mind, your kids will wake up at 8am on Saturday ready for Halloween; with trick-o-treating  still 11 hours will need something to keep them busy all day.

It is so easy.  It can be modern, traditional, rustic, or crisp and clean.  It can be high drama or comfy and cozy.  You can do it inexpensively with a few pillows or a collection of vases.  I love it so much I could do a whole blog on black and white, someone probably already has.  It just always works. YOU CAN ACCENT IT WITH A BOLD PINK FOR A SUPER FEMININE LOOK OR A FRENCH BLUE FOR A CLASSIC BALANCE.  The above pillow is only 19.95 at

Terra Cotta Pots

Gardening in Minnesota is over for a few months.  Sigh.  The cold and the gloom are enough to drive us to the bottom of a bottle of red per day if we are not careful. Stay sane and sober by indoor gardening with terra cotta pots.  They are inexpensive, beautiful, and go with any decor. Why would anyone use anything else?  No really, tell me why, I know very little about gardening.

My favorite secret  place to buy cheap plants in terra cotta?  Trader Joe's.  I bought this little Jade beauty for $2.99.  Hostess gift? Done.

Please refrain from buying a bed in a bag when you need inexpensive bedding for your cabin or guest room.  You can get nice white sheets, pillow cases and a duvet from IKEA or JCPenny at great prices; then add a cozy plaid blanket for winter.  Switch it out with a light weight quilt or cotton blanket in the summer.
